RENO, Nev. (AP) — A 61-year-old man who was arrested after he told police he killed a woman Sunday at a Reno motel had been paroled from prison in November after serving more than 20 years for the murder of his fiance in southern Nevada. Reno police say Zollie Dumas surrendered to authorities. The name of the victim has not been released. Dumas suffers from a mental deficiency.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas has been authorized to give $28 million in federal tax credits through a program that encourages investments in low-income communities. The city is the only entity in Nevada to offer tax credits through the program this year. The program was established in 2000 to attract private investment in distressed communities.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says he won't attend a Washington Redskins home game until the football team changes its name. In a letter Monday to the team's president, Reid called the Redskins name a racial slur that disparages the American people. The Nevada Democrat, who said he represents 27 tribes in his state, rejected Bruce Allen's invitation to a Redskins home game until the team changes its name.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory and red flag fire warning for southern Nevada and parts of northwest Arizona. Temperatures should reach the 90s, while relative humidity remains in the teens. The weather service says that with vegetation very dry, the fire danger will remain high through the evening.
