KEARNS, Utah (AP) — A 31-year-old man has been charged in the shooting death of a Kearns man that police say was motivated by unwarranted jealousy over a woman. Douglas Evans is charged with murder and aggravated burglary in the May 31 death of Theodore Kelbach. Police say Evans suspected Kelbach of having a secret relationship with his girlfriend, but detectives determined there was no such romance.

DUCHESNE, Utah (AP) — A Duchesne County woman accused of leaving her 3-year-old son in a cold car while she and her boyfriend were inside a bar for over two hours has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor. Sheriff's deputies found Sara Eitel's child asleep in a car outside the bar on April 13. Charging documents say the engine was not running and the temperature was about 50 degrees.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A committee aimed at addressing the wintertime smog blanketing Salt Lake City is dissolving about a year after it formed. In 2013, the Legislature tasked the team of high-profile city officials and lawmakers with finding ways to expand use of cleaner fuels, especially natural gas. But the Salt Lake Tribune reports that without any funding, the Alternative Energy Interlocal Entity Board is quietly dissolving.

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) — Former BYU quarterback Jake Heaps is transferring from Kansas to Miami, where the former five-star recruit will join a team short on experienced passers. Heaps started his college career at BYU after being one of the top quarterbacks in the 2010 recruiting class. He played two seasons for BYU before transferring to Kansas, where he struggled.
