LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Las Vegas police officer killed in an ambush was remembered yesterday as a Renaissance man, a great police officer and a loving family man. More than 2,400 people gathered to pay tribute to 41-year-old Alyn Beck, who was gunned down last Sunday with officer Igor Soldo. Investigators say they were killed by an anti-government couple who also killed a bystander.

MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) — Allegiant Air says a flight from Las Vegas to Missoula, Montana, was diverted after a light warned of a problem with the plane's hydraulic system. The flight on Friday was diverted to West Wendover, Nevada, on the Nevada-Utah line. Allegiant spokeswoman Jessica Wheeler says the crew landed safely, and passengers were transferred to a different plane, which completed the trip.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — An 18-year-old Reno man has been sentenced to life in prison for a killing and robbery. Cesar Contreras-Armas pleaded guilty in April to robbery and second-degree murder with the use of a deadly weapon in the stabbing of 20-year-old Andrew Amezcua in October. After stabbing Amezcua, police say Contreras-Armas demanded money from his girlfriend.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Authorities say a shooting suspect died after exchanging gunfire with law officers after a high-speed chase. Washoe County Sheriff's Detective Lt. Tom Green says officers responded to shots fired Friday night at a residence in Washoe Valley and found two dead female victims and one injured male victim. Carson City Sheriff's officers spotted a Jeep and chased it to Sand Mountain Recreation Area, where the shootout occurred.
