OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira has been scratched from New York's game at Oakland because of tightness in his right rib cage.

The Yankees made several late changes after taking Teixeira out of Saturday night's lineup.

Brian McCann moved from catcher to first base. John Ryan Murphy got the start at catcher and was batting eighth. Designated hitter Alfonso Soriano, who was originally batting sixth, took over Teixeira's spot at fourth. Second baseman Yangervis Solarte went from hitting eighth to sixth in the order.

Teixeira is batting .241 with 11 home runs and 31 RBIs this season.
