SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The U.S. Bureau of Land Management is considering a ban on rope swings at Corona Arch in southern Utah. Daredevils sometimes post videos of them swinging like pendulums through the five-story sandstone structure. The BLM recently took over management of the area, where commercial outfitters have already been banned.
UNDATED (AP) -- An Ogden woman accused of helping her husband dump the the body of their teenage baby sitter in the woods is pleading guilty as part of a plea deal. The Salt Lake Tribune reports that 41-year-old Dea Millerberg agreed to the deal today. Her husband was sentenced to up to life in prison for the death of 16-year-old Alexis Rasmussen.
LOGAN, Utah (AP) — Logan police say a man chained his 6-year-old son to a bed while he went to work Police Chief Gary Jensen says they believe the boy's father chained him to the bed post each day for about 10 days when he left for work, unchaining him when he got home. The 28-year-old father was booked into Cache County Jail on four counts of child abuse.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The founder of a Mormon women's group pushing for gender equality says the church is trying to excommunicate her. Kate Kelly says she received a letter this week from the bishop of her Virginia congregation informing her of a disciplinary hearing June 22. Church officials didn't immediately have comment.
