EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — A University of Oregon professor considered an expert on sexual violence research says she's shocked the university has rejected her proposal for a survey that could reveal rates of sexual victimization on campus in Eugene.
Psychology Professor Jennifer Freyd asked the university last month for email addresses of 1,000 randomly selected students and $30,000 to pay students to participate in the 30-minute survey.
University officials rejected her proposal last week. Spokeswoman Rita Radostitz said the university was concerned that the survey data could be biased because of Freyd's personal opinions and because Freyd did not collaborate with university employees.
