SALT LAKE CITY — This weekend's big breaking news was the release of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl into U.S. custody. KSL will continue to cover the story. In the meantime, here are five stories you may have missed this weekend.

Police stop 14-year- old driving stolen car

A man ended a police chase by ramming his truck into a stolen vehicle driven by a 14-year-old on Saturday afternoon.

Syracuse police received information of the stolen vehicle around 5:30 p.m. and were also notified that the boy could have a weapon. A citizen listening to a police scanner app tipped off police to the boy’s location, police said.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the boy took off through a residential neighborhood and a park. Video surfaced of the car racing through Founders Park where several children were playing. Police called off the chase due to safety concerns.

Davis County sheriff’s deputies resumed the chase when they spotted the vehicle. The chase ended in a crash and the boy was taken into custody.

90- year-old checks skydiving off his 'bucket list'

What’s a 90-year-old adrenaline junkie to do on his birthday? Jump out of an airplane, of course.

Richard Farr says he’s done plenty of adventurous things, including scuba diving, snowmobiling, water skiing and mountain biking. Skydiving was on his bucket list.

“It was once in a lifetime,” Farr said. “But when I reach 100, we’re going to go again.”

Dad stuns missionary son with 140-pound weight loss at homecoming

An LDS missionary reuniting with his family barely recognized his father at the airport. The 140-pound difference might have been the trick.

It was a surprise two years in the making. Duane said his family bundled up last Christmas so his missionary son wouldn’t recognize the change during their semi-annual Skype call, and he even went so far as to tell Ty he was in a meeting and unable to be there for the Mother’s Day call.

Check out the video of Ty’s reaction here.

'Save the Salt Lake Tribune' rally draws big crowd

A big crowd came together to attend the “Save the Salt Lake Tribune” rally on Saturday.

Sen. Jim Dabakis spoke at the rally, saying he wants to see two strong independent voices in Utah. Dabakis was critical of the joint operating agreement between the Tribune and the Deseret News.

Terry Orme, editor and publisher of the Salt Lake Tribune, attended the rally as well. Orme was pleased with the community’s support.

“I would like to see a local owner emerge and someone who is committed to the long-term, who is committed to weathering the ups and downs of the newspaper industry right now,” Orme said.

U.S. 89, Harrison Boulevard intersection closed after fatal collision

One man is dead and three others injured after a collision on U.S. 89 in South Ogden on Sunday.

The accident occurred around 4 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 89 and Harrison Boulevard. Police say a southbound Toyota was attempting to turn east when a westbound Saturn crashed into the vehicle.

The driver of the Saturn died at the scene, according to South Ogden Police Sgt. Dave Labbe. The passenger in the Saturn and the two occupants of the Toyota were hospitalized.
