KANO, Nigeria (AP) — Nigeria's second most populous city has been hit by a car bomb. Police say the blast ripped through a bar in the Christian neighborhood of Kano, a mainly Muslim city. At least four people were killed and five wounded. Police say the car exploded before the bomber reached his target, a section of busy restaurants and bars. It's not clear whether the bomber was among those killed.
TRIPOLI, Libya (AP) — Forces apparently loyal to a renegade Libyan general say they have suspended Libya's parliament after earlier leading a military assault against lawmakers. A spokesman says the group is "fighting by the people's choice" to show the world that Libya won't be a "breeding ground" for terrorism. Libya's interim government is condemning the attack and largely ignoring the declaration.
DALLAS (AP) — AT&T's chief executive calls it a deal that "will redefine the video entertainment industry." AT&T has agreed to buy satellite TV provider DirecTV for $48.5 billion. AT&T Chairman and CEO Randall Stephenson says the combined company will be able to "deliver content to consumers across multiple screens - mobile devices, TVs, laptops, cars and even airplanes." The deal requires government approval.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — "Godzilla" is a smash at the box office. The 3-D monster movie has earned $93.2 million in its opening weekend, second only to "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" so far this year. "Godzilla" knocked last weekend's No. 1 hit, "Neighbors," to No. 2. "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" is third followed by Disney's feel-good sports drama "Million Dollar Arm," starring Jon Hamm. Still earning money in its fourth weekend is "The Other Woman," which comes in fifth.
CAMARILLO, Calif. (AP) — Gasoline prices have been dropping. The latest Lundberg survey puts the average price of a gallon of regular at $3.69, down 3 and a-half cents over the past two weeks. Analyst Trilby Lundberg says supplies are meeting demand and prices are likely to continue dropping. Of the cities surveyed, Albuquerque, New Mexico, had the lowest price at $3.32 per gallon, and San Francisco had the highest at $4.17.
