ZEPHYR COVE, Nev. (AP) — The Douglas County sheriff's office is investigating the death of a man at Lake Tahoe who apparently drove a vehicle through the back wall of his residential garage and down an embankment near Zephyr Cove.
Deputies say the vehicle plummeted about 80 feet before coming to rest against a tree shortly before noon on Friday in an area not far from Cave Rock.
The man apparently had been backing the vehicle into his garage in the 600 block of Lookout Road in Zephyr Heights when he burst through the back wall.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The Nevada Highway Patrol is assisting in the investigation.
