LEHI — A police officer suffered an arm injury and a man is on the loose following a car chase on I-15 Thursday night.
Roxanne Vainuku, spokeswoman for the West Valley City Police Department, said officers spotted a stolen vehicle on I-15 about 9:30 p.m.
West Valley police and the Utah Highway Patrol attempted to stop the vehicle at about 11000 South in Lehi.
"The vehicle took off and went southbound," Vainuku said. "Speeds just got too hazardous and so the chase was terminated."
The male suspect exited the freeway and abandoned the car at 2910 N. 1350 West. Vainuku said detectives spotted the driver walking in the area.
The man took off on foot and climbed over a fence.
"One of the officers tried to pull the suspect back over the fence and ended up hurting his right tricep," she said.
Lehi and West Valley City police, as well as UHP, set up a containment but were unable to locate the suspect. Vainuku said K-9 units were also involved.
She said there is no reason to indicate the suspect is dangerous.
