CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — Clemson backup guard Adonis Filer plans to transfer from the Tigers after the spring semester.
Clemson coach Brad Brownell announced Filer's intentions Sunday.
Filer was a sophomore from Chicago who played 66 games in his career, mostly as a backup. He averaged 3.9 points a game this past season, helping the Tigers advance to the NIT semifinals and finish 23-13.
Filer had hoped to break into the Tigers lineup as starting point guard, but played behind junior Rod Hall. Hall has one more year remaining while the Tigers have signed the AP's player of the year in North Carolina in high-scoring point guard Gabe DeVoe.
Filer said Brownell taught him to be a player and he wished the Tigers good luck in the future.
