WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — A global data storage company is creating a partnership with Wichita State University and expanding part of its operation onto the WSU campus.

The Wichita Eagle reports (http://bit.ly/1lXTaYx ) NetApp already employs more than 500 people in Wichita. WSU and NetApp leaders announced the partnership Friday.

NetApp, a California-based Fortune 500 company, is the first announced tenant of the new innovation campus that university leaders say could foster more jobs for Wichita and Kansas. NetApp says it expects to provide the center with projects "and the modern, industry-standard tools necessary to complete them."

WSU officials say the university wants to make the agreement to lead to new high-pay jobs and business opportunities.

Officials say the new innovation campus building NetApp will work in won't be built until probably next year.
