OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A fourth-grade student at an Oklahoma City elementary school has been arrested after teachers found an unloaded handgun in his backpack.

The Oklahoman reports (http://bit.ly/1iF1o1l ) that the 11-year-old Coolidge Elementary School student was arrested Friday on complaints of possession of a firearm on school campus, possession of a firearm with an altered serial number and possession of a knife on school campus.

Police say the backpack was searched after another student caught with a knife said he got the knife from the 11-year-old boy.

Oklahoma City Public Schools spokeswoman Tierney Tinnin says nobody was injured and the gun was not loaded. Tinnin says officials had learned of a threat to another student.

She says the school was not locked down because the student was isolated and police were called.
