CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) — NASA says a spacewalk may be needed to fix a backup computer on the outside of the International Space Station that's not responding to commands. The computer is a backup control for some robotics functions needed next week when a commercial supply ship is scheduled to arrive. The SpaceX cargo launch could be delayed. There's no danger to the crew.
PERTH, Australia (AP) — Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott says he's still confident signals detected so far come from the black boxes of a missing Malaysian airliner, but adds that finding the plane could still be a long and arduous task. The operational window of the batteries for the black box locators is at its closing point and no new signals have been heard recently.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Finance officials from the world's major economies continue their talks in Washington today with meetings of the policymaking committees of the International Monetary Fund and its sister institution, the World Bank. MONROE, La. (AP) — Residents interviewed by The Associated Press say they're disappointed but not surprised that Vance McAllister, a faith-and-family politician sent to Congress in a special election, was caught on video embracing married aide. Amid some calls for his resignation, he has said he will respect the verdict of his constituents this fall.
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — A hillside in Jackson, Wyo., is slowly shifting, prompting officials to order about 60 evacuations and telling the residents they'll be away from home for at least the weekend. One home is being torn apart inch by inch and four businesses at the foot of the potential slide zone are closed. Chances for a sudden collapse are considered slim. The problem came to light a year ago and the hill has been being monitored.
