TO BUSINESS, CITY, AND NATIONAL EDITORS:
Fattah Announces Funding for Philadelphia's Enterprise Center
WASHINGTON, April 11, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Congressman
Chaka Fattah (PA-02) announced today that Philadelphia's Enterprise
Center is the recipient of a $275,000 grant from the Minority Business
Development Agency (MBDA), part of the Department of Commerce. The
grant will help support The Enterprise Center's (TEC) efforts to offer
strategic consulting and other support services to eligible minority
businesses throughout Philadelphia.
"For the last 25 years, The Enterprise Center has been a bedrock of
our community, helping to launch, grow, and support minority
entrepreneurs and startup businesses in Philadelphia. This grant will
help support the wide-ranging efforts of the Center, including
capacity building, job creation, and job retention," Congressman
Fattah said. "Our country is dependent on the success of small and
minority-owned businesses, and I am proud to help institutions like
The Enterprise Center foster innovation and growth."
Since 2004, The Enterprise Center has operated the MBDA Business
Center of Pennsylvania (MBC-PA), part of the national MBDA network of
business centers. Over the last 10 years, MBC-PA has generated more
than $270 million in contracts and created 890 jobs for clients
throughout Philadelphia and the surrounding area.
As the lead Democrat on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce,
Justice, and Science (CJS), Fattah has been instrumental in securing
increased funding for the MBDA and other initiatives that promote
economic growth and competitiveness in the United States. The MBDA
supports economic expansion through their network of business centers,
strategic partnerships, and collaborations with federal, state and
local governments.
