Jon Dunn ReportingA national group that supports an amendment banning flag desecration was in Utah Monday to rally support for the move. The group also wants to rally support against one of Utah's senators.

Supporters believe the message of the amendment is pretty simple.

"It's just a one line, beautiful amendment that the congress will have the power to prohibit the physical desecration of the flag of the United States," says Daniel Wheeler with the Citizens Flag Alliance.

The language goes before the Senate at the end of the month. Wheeler believes the group has the votes, but it could be close. Senator Bob Bennett of Utah could be the swing vote.

"We think the people of Utah ought to know something about what it is he's proposing. But he has said that he really doesn't care what the people of Utah think, he's going to vote against it anyway," says Wheeler.

The alliance points to recent poll numbers in Utah and across the nation that show majority support for the amendment.
