COWLEY PRESIDENT RESIGNS
ARKANSAS CITY — After less than a year on the job, Cowley County President Clark Williams has abruptly resigned. Williams resigned from the college in Arkansas City Thursday amid complaints about his decision to eliminate the college's soccer programs and other decisions. UPCOMING: 400 words.
SEBELIUS RESIGNATION
WASHINGTON — For five years, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius has been a lightning rod for critics of President Barack Obama's health care law. But with sign-ups exceeding expectations and a new face soon to be in charge at HHS, the White House is eager to see if the poisonous atmosphere might give way to more pragmatic efforts aimed at fixing problems with the nation's newest social program. Obama will announce Sebelius' resignation Friday and nominate his budget director, Sylvia Mathews Burwell, as her replacement. — COPPER THEFTS-HUTCHINSON — Copper thieves in Hutchinson have been targeting air conditioners, with seven thefts reported since March.
— BOB DOLE-KANSAS VISIT — Former U.S. Sen. Bob Dole is coming home to Kansas to visit the Dole Institute of Politics at the University of Kansas later this month.
