The review looks at how the government's intelligence agencies handled information they had before the bombings. The Obama administration briefed Congress yesterday on the investigation into whether there were any missed opportunities to share information.
ORLAND, Calif. (AP) — One student says someone kicked open a window and many students escaped that way after the collision between a FedEx tractor-trailer and bus carrying high school students to a university visit. At least nine people died in the fiery crash, which happened after the truck crossed the grass divider on California's Interstate 5, about 100 miles north of Sacramento.
WASHINGTON (AP) — There's going to be a change at the top in the Health and Human Services Department. President Barack Obama plans to announce the resignation of Kathleen Sebelius (seh-BEEL'-yuhs), who has been the lightning rod for critics of President Barack Obama's health care law. Obama plans to nominate his budget director, Sylvia Mathews Burwell, as the replacement.
KIEV, Ukraine (AP) — A coal mining accident in eastern Ukraine has killed seven men. Officials say they died in a gas explosion. Ukraine's energy minister is quoted by the Interfax news agency as saying poor safety precautions were to blame. Deadly accidents at coal mines are frequent in Ukraine. a0489
PRETORIA, South Africa (AP) — The chief prosecutor's relentless questioning of Oscar Pistorius continues today at his murder trial. The prosecutor has accused the athlete of lying about how he fatally shot his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp. The double-amputee runner said he killed Steenkamp by accident after mistaking her for an intruder. The prosecution says Pistorius killed the woman after an argument.
