Mark of a Gem wins Anacapa Purse

ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) — Mark of a Gem held off Jade With Envy by a neck Thursday at Santa Anita in the $58,000 Anacapa Purse for California-bred or sired older fillies and mares.

Ridden by Mike Smith and trained by Tim Yakteen, the 4-year-old Mark of a Gem ran 6½ furlongs on the hillside turf course in 1:12.30 for her second victory in seven career starts. She paid $6, $4 and $3.80 and earned $34,800 to increase her career total to $90,450.

Jade With Envy returned $8.20 and $7.60, and Vegas Rules paid $14.80 to show.
