BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Attorneys for Idaho Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter are asking a federal judge to dismiss a lawsuit challenging a new law that makes it illegal to secretly film animal abuse at agricultural facilities. A coalition of animal activists, civil rights groups and others sued last month. Otter's attorneys contend the coalition lacks the right to challenge the law.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Members of the Governor's Task Force for Improving Education met again today to establish some new proposals to present to Idaho lawmakers next year. The group gathered at Boise State, breaking into two committees to work on developing proposals and implementation plans on teacher career ladders and other items.
NAMPA, Idaho (AP) — Canyon County Sheriff Kieran Donahue says his office, prosecutors and public defenders are meeting daily to determine which inmates to release from the overcrowded jail in Nampa. The jail holds just 400 inmates. Donahue tells the Idaho Press-Tribune that the county's population has more than doubled since the jail was built in 1993.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) —Spokane, Wash., high school quarterback Brett Rypien (RIHP'-ihn) has made a verbal commitment to play football at Boise State for the 2015 season. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound junior has thrown for just over 8,500 yards and 90 touchdowns in three seasons at Shadle Park High. He's the nephew of Super Bowl champion quarterback Mark Rypien.
