PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Police say an 18-year-old college student has been injured with electrical burns after she and her date climbed to the roof of an abandoned electric power plant in Providence for a view of the city.

Police identified the burn victim as Flavia Borgo, a student at the Rhode Island School of Design. The Providence Journal reports (http://bit.ly/1q8WmOq ) that she's hospitalized in serious condition.

Her boyfriend, Nicholas Meehan, who also was identified as a Rhode Island School of Design student, called 911 Saturday night.

Police say Borgo was conscious, but had serious injuries to her left hand, right knee and foot.

Police say Meehan reported that he and Borgo crawled under a sliding gate, climbed up the fire escape to the rooftop and removed plywood that contained an energized switch gear.
