WEST VALLEY CITY — A young girl found alone on a street in West Valley City early Friday morning is now safe with her family.
A motorist spotted the girl at about 6:10 a.m. alone on the street near 4500 South and 4950 West and called police.
Police said they had received no reports of a missing child, so they went door-to-door to see if anyone was missing a child.
Lt. Dalen Taylor or the West Valley Police Department said that while they were going door-to-door, and officer notice an open door on one of the homes, and determined that was where the girl lives.
Police believe that the child, who appeared to be about 3 years old, managed to unlock the door of her home. Police also said the girl was found only a few houses from her home and was outside for about 5 minutes.
The girl's parents said she's never gotten out before.
