Police ask public's help to find Family Dollar robbers

TAYLORSVILLE — Police are asking for the public's help in finding two men who robbed a Family Dollar store Sunday night.

Unified police officers responded to a robbery at the store, 1649 W. 4200 South, around 9:40 p.m. Two men came inside the store, told two customers to get on the ground and then demanded money from three clerks.

One of the robbers was holding a gun and the other was holding an object that appeared to be a handgun, but it was under a cloth, witnesses told police.

The men took an undisclosed amount of money from the clerks and personal property from one of the customers and then fled the scene on foot.

No one in the store was injured. Unified police searched the surrounding area but did not find the gunmen.

"We want to get them caught before somebody gets hurt," Hoyal said.

Police believe one of the gunmen was involved in another robbery that took place at the same store on March 8, Hoyal said.

A gunmen were both men wearing black hoodie sweatshirts. One was wearing a black sweatshirt with grey lining, sweatpants that were white or tan, black gloves, a brown baseball cap, a pink or red bandana, black sunglasses and black shoes.

The other man's sweatshirt had a red stripe on one side and the number 3 on a shoulder. He was wearing grey sweatpants, white tennis shoes, a ski mask and latex gloves that were a purple-blue color. He was holding what witnesses said looked like a gun under a cloth.

Anyone with information is asked to call Unified police at 801-743-7000.
