WINDERMERE, Fla. (AP) — A police officer has been shot and killed in central Florida.
Authorities say Windermere Police Department Officer Robert German was killed early Saturday after stopping two people on foot and calling for backup.
Officers responding to the scene found German on the ground. He was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
German had been with the department for five years.
Investigators say two individuals matching the suspects' description were found dead nearby after the shooting. They are believed to have committed suicide.
The investigation is ongoing.
