NEW YORK, Jun 2, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Former CIA operative Valerie Plame Wilson's $2.5 million book deal with Crown Publishing Group has fallen through and she's now talking with Simon & Schuster.

Crown announced a deal last month for the former Central Intelligence Agency officer to tell her story but Wilson failed to reach an agreement on terms with the publisher, The New York Times reported Friday.

"We had a difference of opinion on some of the contract terms and we agreed to release each other from any publishing obligations," a Crown spokeswoman told the Times.

Wilson is now in talks with Simon & Schuster. David Rosenthal, the publisher's executive vice president, told the Times the publisher was "optimistic" a deal with Wilson would be reached.

Wilson was the CIA operative whose identity was leaked to the media in apparent retaliation for her husband's stand against Bush administration moves ahead of the war in Iraq. One White House aide has been indicted in that case and an investigation into that leak continues.
