RENO, Nev. (AP) — Strong winds are expected in the Lake Tahoe region and western Nevada as a fast-moving storm moves into the area.
The National Weather Service says a wind advisory will remain in effect until 4 p.m. Thursday in western Nevada.
Wind gusts of up to 45 mph are expected in the Reno-Carson City area, with stronger gusts anticipated in wind-prone areas such as Washoe Valley.
Along the Sierra crest, forecasters say gusts could reach 80 mph.
The mountains are expecting rain with snow at the higher elevations, but forecasters say precipitation in the valleys is questionable.
