Nissan is reinventing the rear-view mirror. Calling it the smart rear-view mirror, it's a mirror-video hybrid. So, it toggles back and forth from a traditional mirror, to a back-up camera screen, and you choose which one gives you the better view at any given time. This will launch in Japan next year, but because of strict laws in the United States, it may be a while before it makes it into cars here.

Now, here's something you could use in your garage more quickly, if you have the cash. The brand new BMW I8 is a hybrid sports car and the company knows you need custom Louis Vuitton luggage to go with your new ride. This luggage is tailored to fit perfectly in the storage areas available in the I8. You can special order the luggage at certain BMW locations in April of 2014.

Lastly, a mesmerizing new way to tell time. This is the plot clock created by a German designer. Motors control the arm which writes out the time each minute, and the grabs the dry-erase marker and makes a clean slate, ready for the next time-stamp.
