CLEVELAND (AP) — A Cleveland university says the dean of its law school has resigned amid a lawsuit by a professor accusing him of retaliation for reporting alleged sexual harassment by his boss.
Case Western Reserve said in a news release Tuesday that dean Lawrence Mitchell resigned effective last Saturday. Mitchell had been on voluntary leave since November, a move the school said he made "to minimize distractions" related the pending lawsuit.
The lawsuit was filed last fall by Raymond Ku alleging that Mitchell retaliated against him after the professor complained about Mitchell's inappropriate touching and comments involving women colleagues.
The suit alleges that Mitchell retaliated by threatening dismissal, trimming Ku's responsibilities and saying Ku shouldn't continue as associate dean.
The university said the lawsuit contained inaccurate, inflammatory and false allegations.
