LOS ANGELES — If you missed the Oscars, here’s what you need to know. Host Ellen Degeneres crashed Twitter and set a new record, "12 Years a Slave" won best picture, and if anyone asks you today who you thought was best dressed, you’ll be safe to say Lupita Nyong’o.
The moment that crashed Twitter was when Degeneres snapped a star-studded selfie that included Bradley Cooper, Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Lawrence, Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep, Lupita Nyong’o and a photo bomb by Kevin Spacey, among others. The Oscar host challenged the audience to make it the most-retweeted photo.
Viewers responded by retweeting the photo 2.7 million times — breaking the previous record that was set on election night 2012 by @BarackObama with 779,000 retweets. The influx of traffic to Twitter crashed the site for a short time.

All told, 14.7 million Oscar tweets were sent between 8:30 and 12 a.m. EST on Sunday night, and 2 million of those were from retweeting the photo.
One of the weirdest moments of the night goes to John Travolta’s introduction of the Oscar-nominated songs from "Frozen." Travolta introduced Idina Menzel as Adele Dazim. No one is entirely sure why — some speculated teleprompter failure. Soon, various spellings of the new name were trending and a Twitter account for the wrongly named singer quickly popped up.

**Nyong'o's acceptance speech**
The speech you need to see is Nyong’o’s acceptance speech for best supporting actress, in which she inspired everyone to follow their dreams.
“When I look down at this golden statue, may it remind me and every little child that no matter where you’re from, your dreams are valid,” she said.
In a “celebrities, they are just like us” moment, pizza was ordered and delivered to the Oscar audience. The Associated Press reported the pizza delivery guy was indeed a real employee from Big Mama’s and Papa’s Pizzeria. No word on whether he has received the tip that Degeneres collected for him using Pharrell’s hat, that looked to be about $300.
Food was on the mind of several celebrities. Actress Kristen Bell tweeted a picture of her clutch and told her followers that there was a burrito inside.
When you see me on the red carpet of the oscars tonight, just know … there’s a burrito in my clutch.

**Lawrence tripping, again**
And not to be outdone, Lawrence continued her tradition of tripping at the Oscars. Last year, she tripped on the way up the stairs to accept her award. This year, she tripped on the red carpet as she was exiting her car. In true Lawrence style, she laughed it off — both when she fell and again when Degeneres mentioned it in her monologue.
