TO EDUCATION, AND NATIONAL EDITORS:
Accreditors Approve Saybrook University Alliance with TCS Education
System
CHICAGO and SAN FRANCISCO, March 3, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/
-- The Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) has approved
a partnership between Chicago-based TCS Education System (TCS Ed) and
San Francisco-based Saybrook University-a dynamic collaboration
expected to enrich the future of both nonprofit institutions.
"A revolution is happening in graduate education, and this partnership
allows Saybrook University to lead the way," said Dr. Mark Schulman,
president of Saybrook University. "Our affiliation with TCS Education
System allows Saybrook to continue to deliver the humanistic education
that transforms lives but, in the current national economic climate,
is increasingly out of the reach of millions."
Driven by a social change mission that unifies its colleges and
distinguishes TCS Education System from any other higher education
enterprise today, the addition of Saybrook expands the consortium to a
total of five higher education institutions that span the nation. Dr.
Michael Horowitz, founding president of TCS Ed since 2009, said WASC's
approval of this partnership is a testament to the success of the TCS
Education System mission and will help advance an unprecedented vision
in practitioner-based education.
"TCS Education System was founded to become a game-changer," said Dr.
Horowitz. "As we embark on the next chapter in our journey and welcome
Saybrook University into the TCS Education System family, together we
will continue to reimagine higher education and forge new paths that
will answer the call to prepare qualified practitioners positively
impacting communities locally and globally."
Considered the world's premier institution for humanistic scholarship
and practice, Saybrook University joins The Chicago School of
Professional Psychology, Pacific Oaks College & Children's School, The
Santa Barbara & Ventura Colleges of Law, and the Dallas Nursing
Institute in the TCS Education System network.
"TCS Education System is a community of like-minded educational
institutions. As one of its partners, Saybrook will have access to
high caliber expertise," said Dr. Schulman. "This expertise will help
us reduce costs, make our high quality graduate education more
available, and improve the student experience."
