PHARRELL WILLIAMS LOSES BEST ORIGINAL SONG OSCAR
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Pharrell Williams may have been a Grammy darling this year — but he's been rejected by Oscar. He didn't win the first Academy Award he had ever been nominated for. He was up for best original song for "Happy" from the animated movie, "Despicable Me 2." Happy ended up losing to "Let It Go" from the Disney musical "Frozen." That also means U2 lost out on its chance for an Oscar last night. The band was nominated for "Ordinary Love" from "Mandela" Long Walk to Freedom." Also nominated for best original song for a movie last night was "The Moon Song" from "Her."

PHARRELL WILLIAMS' FASHION STATEMENT
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Pharrell Williams made a fashion statement last night at the Oscars. He made his mark on the red carpet below the waist. He wore a formal black tux up top with formal black shorts. He topped the look off with no socks — which gave those on the red carpet a peek at his tattooed calves.

DOCUMENTARY FEATURING DARLENE LOVE WINS OSCAR
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Darlene Love made the most of her time in the spotlight when she won her Oscar last night. She burst into song after the film she appears in "20 Feet from Stardom" won an Academy Award for best documentary feature. She did a few lines from "His Eye Is On The Sparrow." The film is about backup singers like Love who performed just behind stars like Ray Charles, Tina Turner and Stevie Wonder — without becoming stars in their own right.

PINK MAKES "WIZARD"-LIKE APPEARANCE
LOS ANGELES (AP) — So, what WAS the deal with Pink's performance on last night's Oscars show? It was a combination of TV and music trickery that made it appear that Pink was in Kansas before ending up in the Land of Oz as she sang "Over the Rainbow." It took more than five projectors firing off images onto a translucent screen that masked the singer. Most of those in the Dolby Theatre weren't able to see the full effect, but it looked cool on TV. And in the theater, both Jamie Foxx and Matthew McConaughey cheered her performance.
CHRIS BROWN ORDERED TO STAY IN REHAB
LOS ANGELES (AP) — The legal "time out" Chris Brown has been given will remain a while longer. A judge in Los Angeles has ordered the singer to stay in an anger-management rehab program for now. Judge James Brandlin has also set a date for the next hearing Brown's status. That will be on April 23. The date is significant in that it will come after the expected end of his assault trial in Washington D.C. Prosecutors have asked that Brown be sent to jail for violating probation with his October arrest — but Brown's lawyers want to wait until the D.C. case is resolved. In the Washington incident, Brown and his bodyguard are accused of punching a man and breaking his nose outside a hotel. Brown is on probation for his 2009 attack on then-girlfriend, Rihanna.

PHARRELL WILLIAMS HAT GOES TO ARBY'S
NEW YORK (AP) — So, which fast-food restaurant do you think would have bid to win the brown hat that Pharrell Williams wore on Grammy night? If you're thinking Arby's — you're thinking right. The roast beef maker ended up paying more than $44,000 for the Vivienne Westwood which Pharrell rocked non-stop at the Grammys in January. Arby's logo has a design similar to the high-topped fedora. Williams put the hat up for bids on eBay two weeks ago. The earnings will support his charity From One Hand to Another.
AMERICAN IDOL PHONE MIX-UP
PORT ANGELES, Wash. (AP) — You want pepperoni with that? It was a question that a lot of people looking to vote for their "American Idol" favorites could have heard, instead of getting the chance to pick a singer. The Peninsula Daily News in Port Angeles, Washington says somehow calls got routed to Gordy's Pizza & Pasta for two hours last Wednesday night. Usually, such mix-ups can be explained when the numbers are similar — but that wasn't the case this time. Restaurant owner Randy Sexton says his staff endured what he calls "a frenzy of ring, ring, ring, ring, ring" — and answered every one, expecting it was a potential customer. He hopes the problem can be fixed before this week's episode. A spokeswoman for "Idol" says efforts are being made to take care of the issue.
