WASHINGTON (AP) — Russia is scheduled to host the G-8 summit in June in Sochi, site of the Winter Olympics. But it may not happen. The Group of Seven nations says it's suspending participation in the planning for the meeting. The U.S., Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and Britain say Russia's advances in Ukraine violate the "principles and values" on which the G-7 and G-8 operate.

WASHINGTON (AP) — A storm system that brought much needed rain to California is moving eastward. After dropping a mix of freezing rain and heavy snow on the nation's midsection, the storm is taking aim at the East Coast. It's expected to dump up to a foot of snow on some areas, mainly in the Mid-Atlantic region, including Washington, which has declared a snow emergency for tomorrow.

JERUSALEM (AP) — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will meet with President Barack Obama at the White House tomorrow. They'll be discussing the U.S.-led Mideast peace efforts. Shortly before taking off from Israel, Netanyahu vowed to "stand steadfast" on Israeli interests. He's facing heavy international pressure to begin making concessions to the Palestinians.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Police in the nation's capital say they arrested more than 370 people who strapped themselves to the White House fence to protest the proposed Keystone XL oil pipeline. The demonstrators were mostly college students who had just participated in a peaceful march. They want President Barack Obama to reject the pipeline because it will worsen global warming.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Lupita Nyong'o has won the Academy Award for best supporting actress for her harrowing portrayal of a slave who's caught her sadistic master's eye in "12 Years a Slave." It was the 31-year-old actress' film debut. Earlier, Jared Leto won the Oscar for best supporting actor for his performance as an HIV-positive transgender prostitute in "Dallas Buyers Club."
