OGDEN — A man arrested early this week in connection to lewdness reports from an Ogden neighborhood is now facing an immigration hearing, police said.
Hassan Habib A. Alrashed, 24, was arrested on suspicion of lewdness Monday after Ogden police received multiple reports of lewdness from a neighborhood on the East Bench during February.
Alrashed was driving a green 1995 Subaru that matched the description police had been given. He was on the 3200 block of Polk Avenue when a detective noticed him and interviewed him to determine if he was a person of interest, according to police.
He was arrested and booked into the Weber County Jail on suspicion of three counts of lewdness involving a child and one count of lewdness after further investigation, police said.
The U.S. Immigration Customs and Enforcement was contacted after Ogden police officers determined Alrashed only possessed a student visa to be in the U.S.
His bail was initially set for $6,572, but police said ICE has placed an immigration detainer on him. The ICE will take custody of Alrashed after local court proceedings conclude for possible immigration enforcement action.
