(KSL News) -- Alta High School students presented a $25,000 check to the Ouelessebougou-Utah Alliance at an assembly this morning.
Ouelessebougou, Utah's sister community, is located in Mali, West Africa. The country lacks government funding to build schools and provide education programs in rural villages.
The money will go towards the construction of a new two-room cement school and other school supplies.
Alta students raised the money by holding a date auction, selling bracelets, holding car washes and gathering contributions from parents and businesses.
