ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates (AP) - U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry will travel to Paris this week to meet with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to continue his push for an outline for an Israeli-Palestinian peace accord.

The State Department said Monday that Kerry and Abbas will meet on Wednesday in the French capital. Kerry is currently in Abu Dhabi for talks with United Arab Emirates officials on Syria, Iran and the Mideast peace process.

Kerry is hoping to get Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to agree to a framework to guide negotiations for a permanent settlement to the long-running conflict. Talks began last summer with a nine-month target for an agreement. That timetable for a peace accommodation runs out at the end of April, and there has been little tangible sign of progress yt.
