Sandra Yi ReportingThere is still no sign of an eight-year boy, missing out of Colorado. Police believe his mother kidnapped him.
Neighbors saw the boy's mother packing and renting a moving truck. That truck was found here in Sandy, in the parking lot of a Lowe's store. Police hope this clue will lead them to the missing boy.
Robert Chacon: "It's just been a real tough time for her, knowing that I have custody of him."
Hard times may have led this mother to kidnap her own son. Hope Yengich picked him up at his father's Colorado home on Saturday for a weekend visit.
Robert Chacon: "She was very pleasant, just like nothing was wrong. So much like all the other times. We said goodbye, hugged and kissed, and see you tomorrow."
That was the last time Chacon saw his son. Cole never made it to school on Monday. Police say Yengich, violated a custody order. She also has an arrest warrant, involving a forgery case. Chacon believes the pair traveled to Salt Lake City. That's where he met his ex-wife nine years ago.
Robert Chacon: "She's on the run and she's very desperate right now."
Coincidentally, Cole's disappearance falls on National Missing Children's Day. Here in Utah child advocates introduced a child ID kit to help parents in case their child goes missing.
Ed Smart: "For all those parents out there, I can tell you, when a crisis happens, that is not the time to be preparing."
The kit includes a fingerprint sheet, DNA collection envelope and a wallet ID card. Advocates also announced the Missing Children's Advisory, where law enforcement agencies work together to find a missing child. The advisory is used in situations that don't meet the criteria for an Amber Alert.
That was the case in Cole's disappearance. His father, has this message, for his ex-wife.
Robert Chacon: "I know times are hard right now. We all miss him, and no matter what happens, it'll all work out in the end."
Yengich is driving a Chrysler Sebring Sedan with Colorado License Plate: 601-EKR. If you have any information on their whereabouts, call police.
