TUNIS, Tunisia (AP) - A Tunisian journalists and a rapper were given suspended jail sentences after they were convicted of insulting civil servants at a trial of another rapper.
Their lawyer, Ghazi Mrabet, said that Hind Meddeb, a French-Tunisian journalist, and Aymen Fekish, known by his rapper name Men-Ay, were given four month suspended sentences by a court on Monday.
Mrabet, who described the decision as a "first victory," said he will appeal the ruling.
The two were convicted for shouting insults about the country's justice system, at a trial of another rapper.
Tunisia has witnessed a string of suits against musicians for offending public morals and insulting government officials as the country grapples with limits to freedom of expression, since the overthrew of its dictator in 2011.
