This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

As a service disabled veteran, York Martinez knew there were opportunities for people like himself. He was involved with a program through the VA that assisted veterans into entrepreneurship. So, he started looking at exactly what was available. He discovered the best route was through contracting, so he launched Castra-Con.

As a licensed general contracting service, Castra-Con, based in Ogden, picks up contracting jobs for disabled veterans .... Once they're awarded the jobs, they go on site to figure out exactly what is needed and find a sub-contractor who can complete the job....Founder and owner York says the business has continued to develop since he launched in May 2012...

As a fully-integrated company, Castra-Con offers a wide range of construction services in federal, state, municipal, industrial, commercial and residential sectors. They've connected with some of the major players in town to complete these jobs. They have $3 million bonding capability and are pursuing contracts across the Western U.S. They're also certified as a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business.

Sometimes starting a new business can require a lot of capital.... While York says he doesn't have the big money, he can find it.... And he's connected with just the right channels to get him to where he's at now.

As he continues to get established with Castra-Con, York's vision is to start a side business to help other vets find their entrance into business, to direct them to other sources that will assist them ... With half a million to a million vets expected to be released from active duty in the next five years, this service would be invaluable.

He personally knows how hard it can be....York's made the sacrifice to be where he's at and fought for everything he's building....He set his business model for Castra-Con up so it will continue to expand and grow as far as his dreams can take him...

Because of go-getters like York Martinez, programs for disabled vets trying to establish themselves in the business community have impact. And businesses like Castra-Con are established and experience success.

For Zions Bank, I'm Chris Redgrave, speaking on business.
