COLORADO CITY, Ariz. — A mother and her children discovered a nearly full set of human remains Monday, investigators said.
Dispatch received a report that kids came across remains while walking and playing in a desert area about a mile off of Highway 389 near Colorado City at 12:43 p.m., Mohave County Sheriff's spokeswoman Trish Carter said.
"It was an almost complete set of human bones," Carter said. "We're not sure of the gender. The subject had been out there for a long time."
Detectives responded to the scene and the remains were taken to the Lake Havasu Medical Examiner's office for further investigation, Carter said. Identification of the body is pending while the case remains under investigation.
The Mohave County Sheriff's office will be looking at missing persons reports while waiting for results, Carter said.
More information will be added as it becomes available.
