SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The federal government is sending $2.3 million in grants to three new Utah health centers.

The Department of Health and Human Services announced Thursday it was awarding the grant as part of a $150 million award to health centers around the country.

The award comes as part of President Barack Obama's health care overhaul.

In Utah, the grant will go to health centers in Salt Lake City, Magna and Bicknell.

HHS estimates the new centers in Utah will help provide care for more 11,000 residents.
