(AP) - SCHOOL BOOK: Nearly 1,500 schools are using a program built around the self-help bestseller "The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People" that's meant to teach students principles from the book.
THE COST: For a 400-student school, adopting the "Leader in Me" program would cost between $45,000 and $60,000 over the first three years.
BACK STORY: There are dozens of such programs seeking to improve the school climate, said one education policy expert, most run by nonprofits. The "Leader in Me" program is pretty expensive compared with most, he said.
