KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) - A small passenger plane crashed into a house after landing short of a runway in Malaysia's section of Borneo island on Thursday, leaving one passenger dead.

Five other people among the 16 aboard the Twin Otter aircraft were injured in the accident at Kudat airport in eastern Sabah state, national carrier Malaysia Airlines said in a statement.

The plane was operated by Malaysia Airlines subsidiary MASwings, which flies to parts of Borneo including Indonesia and Brunei.

Malaysia Airlines said it is investigating the crash.

Malaysia's New Straits Times newspaper reported on its website that two people in the house near the runway escaped without injuries.
