WASHINGTON (AP) - The top U.S. envoy for North Korea policy will travel to South Korea, China and Japan next week.

The State Department offered few details about Glyn Davies' trip, other than that he will meet with his counterparts and senior officials of each government to discuss North Korea.

His trip starts on Monday in Seoul. He then travels to Beijing and Tokyo.

It comes as months of high tension following a North Korean nuclear test are easing and relations between the two Koreas are improving.

But there's little sign of a thaw between Washington and Pyongyang (pyuhng-yahng).

A U.S. human rights envoy was due to visit Pyongyang last week to seek the release of a detained American, but North Korea called the trip off because of U.S.-South Korea military drills.
