FM 100's Jill Atwood Reporting It's a trend happening more often, families throwing away the societal norm for a chance at a little more quality time together. We're talking about "Stay at Home Dads".

Amanda Covington: "I'm guilty. I leave in the morning and I feel guilty, but other times I realize we've made the best decision. Every day I think that I am probably the luckiest woman in the world. He doesn't have an ego so big that he won't do what's right for the family."

Some might say this couple has it backwards, but the Covingtons don't care what others think. They know they're doing what's right for their two little boys.

Cory Covington, Stay at Home Dad: "She was working in the morning and I was taking care of the kids and then she would come home and I would go to work at night. So it would be like ships passing in the night."

That's when Cory and Amanda decided something had to give. Amanda would work while Cory would stay home with the kids. At first each of them struggled with their new roles, but...

Cory Covington: "It made it a little bit easier with the success she's achieved. She's done so much and I'm so proud of what she's done. So it made it easier for her that she had a rewarding career and I realized that what I am doing is as valuable as what my wife is doing."

And as time wears on, both realize they're where they're supposed to be.

Amanda Covington Communications Director, Board of Regents: "He's much better at the supervision and keeping things in check. It's not perfect all the time and crisis occur and things get chaotic, and he's just a lot more even tempered than I would be. I'd be wound tight and he's not."

Cory Covington: "I love it. I really love it. I have a lot of quality time with my kids. I feel like I'm able to take part in raising them and molding them and helping them grow. It's been a really rewarding experience."

Cory still gets occasional strange looks at the park, and Amanda can't help but feel the pressure of being a working mom, but both know their boys and their family are better off.
