FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — It's been a tough year for Boston area sports. The horrific events of the Boston Marathon reaches far beyond sports, so that's not what I'm referencing.
Rather, Bostonians had it rough when their Bruins lose the Stanley Cup, they had to gut it out when Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez was arrested for murder and they lost Doc Rivers, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce as they watched hated rival Miami win a second straight championship with former Celtic Ray Allen.
Through all of that Boston still had an ace up their sleeve; Tom Brady was still their quarterback. Well, Boston may have experienced yet another setback.
During practice Wednesday a fan caught a scary moment on film. Following a throw down field Brady was hit and hurt his left knee. In the video Brady immediately goes to the ground and grabs the same knee he injured a few years ago that caused him to miss the 2008 season.
Brady limped off the field to the gasps and terror of all those watching and Patriots fans everywhere.
Coach Bill Belichick did not talk with reporters following practice and the team made no official statement about Brady. Club president Jonathan Kraft spoke with the radio station WBZ-FM and said it, "hopefully did not appear to be that bad."
