KSL's Amy Iverson has a few ideas for the Kinect camera. One is practical, the other, not so much. First, the practical. The company Volumental has the idea to connect your Kinect to a smartphone. Then, if you see something you may want to 3D-print, you just use thier app to get a 3D scan. Then the company shoots you the 3D print of any model you upload.
Now, for the impractical. The Aquatop Display is the result of six months of coding and a lot of creativity. Using a Kinect camera, a PC, and a projector, some Tokyo researchers turn a regular bath into an interactive entertainment area. You can move images by creating waves, or get rid of images by bringing your hand above water, grabbing them, and pulling them under. Then, by turning on a waterproof speaker, the tub turns into a miniature version of the light show at the Bellagio.
Finally, do you hate reaching down into the bottom of a jar to get those last remnants of peanut butter, or mayo? Here's the solution in a new invention called 'Jar With A Twist'. As you twist the bottom, it raises to the top, bringing with it those last delicious dollops, without getting your fingers all sticky. Foods will also stay fresher because there won't be as much air in the container.
