PROVO — A drug deal witnessed by a Provo Special Enforcement team ended in a dramatic car chase Tuesday.

Jeff Richmond met with an unnamed individual at Powerline Park at 1300 S. 500 West in Provo to conduct a drug deal, according to officials. Immediately after the buy, officers attempted a traffic stop on Richmond's vehicle.

Richmond fled the stop, and the officers took chase. An officer performed a PIT maneuver, attempting to stop the vehicle and slammed the suspect's vehicle. Richmond's vehicle lost control and struck a parked car. The police car involved also lost control and ran into a nearby house.

The homeowner, Judy Flanagan, said the crash woke her up from a nap.

"I came out and looked over to the right and saw this vehicle there that had lights flashing on it."

Flanagan said this isn't the first time something like this has happened. About 15 years ago, an individual crashed into her house as the result of a police chase. She said she's glad that in both cases, the only damage was to the house and not to any bystanders.

After the crash, three of the four occupants in the vehicle fled on foot. They were apprehended quickly by officers.

"Within about a block or two we were able to catch all four individuals and take them into custody," said Provo Police officer Lt. Matthew Siufauna.

Richmond was booked into the Utah County Jail for driving on a revoked license, distribution of methamphetamine, driving with an open container of alcohol and two counts of failure to stop.

The three other suspects were booked for various charges relating to the incident.
