(KSL News) -- A new war documentary has ties to Utah.
Mike Shiley was dissatisfied with national media coverage so he spent two months in Iraq gathering stories he says don't center around car bombings or death tallies.
Shiley says the most touching part of the documentary is his meeting with a soldier in the Utah National Guard.
Mike Shiley, "Inside Iraq: The Untold Stories": "Even though the base was warned there might be a chemical weapons attack by insurgents that night, the first Christmas we were in Iraq, I heard the singing of Silent Night and I followed their sound and I went into the barracks and there was the Utah National Guard celebrating Christmas and singing Silent Night."
It's those experiences Shiley captures on film and hopes to share with audiences across the country.
The film's Utah debut is tonight in Salt Lake City. "Inside Iraq: The Untold Stories" will be at the Tower Theatre at 7:00pm tonight and tomorrow.
Shiley will present the 84 minute documentary and will answer questions afterward.
