(KSL News) -- The man accused of killing a BYU student appeared in a New Mexico court.
But the judge put Joel Courtney's case on hold, because the defendant asked him to dismiss his woman attorney and give him time to find a man.
He faces charges of raping women in New Mexico and Oregon.
Police say Courtney also took BYU student Brooke Wilberger from an Oregon apartment complex two years ago and killed her.
