SALINA, Sevier County — Four women were killed in a rollover accident on Interstate 70 Saturday when the driver told police he dozed off at the wheel.

The four-door truck was traveling east from California to Colorado when it drifted to the left near milepost 53 just before 5 a.m, according to the Utah Highway Patrol. The driver corrected sharply to the right, striking a post, before the truck skidded across both lanes and rolled off the right shoulder.

The truck rolled one and half times, stopping upside down on its roof. The driver, Ezequiel Vasquez, 48, of Hawthorne, Calif., was the only occupant wearing a seatbelt and he suffered only minor injuries.

The four female passengers were ejected from the truck as it rolled, UHP reported. Two were pronounced dead at the scene, while two more died at a local hospital.

The women killed in the crash were identified as Jasmine Vasquez, 21, from Hawthorne, Calif.; Virginia Gonzalez Hernandez, 79, from Guadalajara, Mexico; Paula Espinoza, 63, from Guadalajara, Mexico; and Anita Maria Vasquez from Guadalajara, Mexico.
